During the heating process in the roasting furnace, a carbon combustion device and its control system are used to regulate both the fuel supply and the furnace temperature. The anode material in the roasting chamber is indirectly heated according to the roasting temperature profile specified by the process. Under certain conditions, the carbon products are heated, causing the binder—specifically the pitch used in pre-baked anode production—to undergo decomposition, polymerization, and coking reactions. This results in the formation of a new coke network between the existing coke particles and coke fines, leading to a series of physical and chemical changes in the anode product. As a result, the anode becomes a cohesive, engineered structure with specific mechanical strength and physical properties, ultimately yielding high-quality pre-baked anodes.
