2018-11-19

On the evening of October 25, China Aluminum Corporation released its third-quarter report for 2018. The report showed that in the first three quarters, the company recorded operating revenue of RMB 125.717 billion, down 10.25% year on year; total profit reached RMB 3.147 billion, up 17.24% compared with the same period last year; and net profit stood at RMB 1.496 billion, an increase of 11.02% year over year. Net cash flow from operating activities amounted to RMB 8.981 billion, up 6.24% from the same period last year, while the asset‑liability ratio continued to decline from the beginning of the year. Overall, the company’s profitability, cost control, and internal management capabilities have all improved steadily amid its drive for high‑quality development, demonstrating strong growth potential.

China Aluminum Corporation continues to focus on cost reduction, with many of its subsidiaries achieving significant improvements in cost-control capabilities and markedly enhancing their industry competitiveness. Meanwhile, the company is advancing the restructuring and optimization of its industrial footprint, accelerating the development and deployment of cluster‑based production bases across China. At the same time, the three pilot units for management reform identified at the beginning of the year have all made new progress: Chinalco Shandong launched a pilot program for professional technical managers, boosting the innovation drive of its technical workforce; the Qinghai Branch established a flexible employee‑entry-and‑exit mechanism, revitalizing staff dynamics; and Chinalco International Trading relocated to Shanghai, establishing a financial shared‑services center that has strengthened its market‑leading role.

Meanwhile, the smooth progress of a number of new projects has unlocked greater potential for China Aluminum’s future development. On August 31, the Mining Agreement for the Boffa Project in Guinea entered into force, with construction officially set to commence on October 28. Upon completion and commissioning, the project will become a key source of bauxite resources for China Aluminum overseas, bolstering its mineral resource security and sustainable development capabilities, while also marking a further acceleration of the company’s global strategic expansion. In addition, Guangxi Huasheng…   The 2-million-ton alumina project broke ground on September 28. As a key initiative for China Aluminum Corporation to optimize its industrial layout and strategically shift operations from inland regions to port‑based facilities, the Huasheng Project will leverage bauxite mined in Boffa, Guinea, to produce high‑quality alumina in accordance with international standards. This marks another significant step forward in China Aluminum’s efforts to build an integrated aluminum industry cluster spanning the entire value chain—from bauxite mining and port logistics to alumina production, green‑technology‑driven aluminum manufacturing, and downstream aluminum processing.
