Henan Province has released a list of enterprises that have phased out outdated aluminum production capacity in 2017.

On January 31, 2018, the Henan Province Task Force for Phasing Out Backward Production Capacity released a list of enterprises that had completed the withdrawal of outdated production capacity in 2017. Among them, two aluminum‑related enterprises were included: the Shangqiu Aluminum Branch of Henan Shenhuo Group Co., Ltd. in Shangqiu City, with 444 electrolytic cells operating at 200 kA each, phased out 240,000 tons of backward capacity; and the former Yongcheng Aluminum Plant of Henan Shenhuo Coal‑Electricity Co., Ltd. in Yongcheng City, with 116 electrolytic cells operating at 200 kA each, phased out 60,000 tons of backward capacity.
