Recently, the Shandong Provincial Development and Reform Commission reported that, in line with national directives, the province conducted a comprehensive survey to thoroughly ascertain its electrolytic aluminum production capacity. In 2017, Shandong shut down a total of 3.2225 million tons of electrolytic aluminum capacity, surpassing the national target. “As market supply and demand have improved, electrolytic aluminum prices have risen, leading to enhanced corporate profitability and delivering a win‑win outcome: approval from the state, benefits for enterprises, job security for workers, and compliance with environmental standards,” said a responsible official from the Shandong Provincial Development and Reform Commission.
