The nation’s first demonstration project for near-zero emissions of flue-gas pollutants in the aluminum industry has been commissioned.

2017-11-22

Recently, China’s first demonstration project for near-zero emissions of flue-gas pollutants in the aluminum industry has been completed and put into operation in Tongliao. Construction on the project began on January 22 this year, with China National Nuclear Corporation Inner Mongolia Company serving as the contractor. With a total investment of RMB 310 million, the project employs the latest domestically developed ultra‑low‑emission technology for electrolytic aluminum flue gases to achieve deep treatment of pollutant emissions from the electrolytic aluminum production line at Inner Mongolia Huo Coal Hongjun Aluminum & Electricity Co., Ltd. Following commissioning, all emission parameters have surpassed national standards and reached an internationally leading level; in particular, fluoride concentrations have been reduced to near zero. According to the project design, it will annually cut emissions by approximately 144 tons of fluorides, 9,240 tons of sulfur dioxide, and 840 tons of particulate matter, significantly reducing overall pollutant discharge.
