The 3rd Central Plains Zhengzhou International Aluminum Industry Exhibition is being held in Zhengzhou.

2025-10-17

On October 15, the 3rd Central Plains Zhengzhou International Aluminum Industry Exhibition and the 6th Central Plains International Aluminum Processing Innovation & Development Conference were held in Zhengzhou. Numerous aluminum companies and many industry experts gathered at the Zhengzhou International Convention & Exhibition Center to jointly witness the successful opening of this industry summit. China is both a global leader in aluminum production and consumption, ranking among the world’s top producers and consumers for 22 consecutive years. Its export volume accounts for approximately 35% of the global total. In Henan Province, aluminum plays an especially important role in the overall development of the province’s industrial sector. After years of sustained growth, Henan has established a complete industrial chain—from bauxite mining to alumina production, electrolytic aluminum smelting, and aluminum processing—whose output value exceeds 300 billion yuan. A number of leading enterprises and distinctive products have also emerged from this thriving ecosystem.

China is both a major global producer and consumer of aluminum, consistently ranking among the world’s top producers and consumers for 22 consecutive years. Its export volume accounts for approximately 35% of the global total. In Henan Province, aluminum plays an especially important role in the overall development of the province’s industrial sector. After long-term development, Henan has established a complete industrial chain—from bauxite mining to alumina production, electrolytic aluminum production, and aluminum processing—whose output value exceeds 300 billion yuan. A number of enterprises and products have been nurtured and developed within this thriving industry.

At the opening ceremony, Li Defeng, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, noted in his speech that in recent years, China’s aluminum industry has shown a robust development trend, with stable and growing production and record-high export volumes. The Central Plains region, represented by Henan Province, is an important base for the aluminum industry in China, boasting a strong industrial foundation and advantageous geographical location. In the past, this region achieved remarkable milestones in the production of alumina, primary aluminum, and aluminum processing. In recent years, it has also made significant strides in promoting the intelligent and green transformation and upgrading of the aluminum industry. He stated that the Zhengzhou International Aluminum Industry Exhibition and the Central Plains International Aluminum Processing Innovation and Development Conference have been successfully held for many sessions, continuously expanding their industry influence and providing a high-level platform for Henan Province and the entire country to pool development wisdom, showcase cutting-edge technologies, foster exchanges and cooperation, and explore emerging markets. As a bridge connecting the government and enterprises, the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association remains committed to serving the healthy development of the industry, supporting the continuous improvement of various platforms, and jointly writing a new chapter of innovation, green development, and openness for China’s aluminum industry.

Zhang Wenzhang, President of the Henan Province Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, stated that this year’s exhibition and innovation development conference has attracted nearly 200 enterprises and institutions from both domestic and international aluminum industry chains and related sectors. The event focuses on showcasing raw materials, materials, processed products, components, as well as relevant machinery, equipment, and auxiliary materials along the aluminum-based material supply chain. It is dedicated to fostering deepened cooperation across the upstream and downstream segments of the industry chain and providing a professional platform for enterprises and institutions to expand their presence in both international and domestic markets. Moreover, this event serves as a concluding showcase of Henan Province’s achievements in cultivating and strengthening its advanced aluminum-based material industry chain during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. Since the start of the 14th Five-Year Plan, Henan has established an industrial structure characterized by “one belt, two clusters, and three zones,” with the industry chain gradually becoming more complete and industrial layout further optimized. In 2024, Henan’s aluminum industry achieved sales revenues exceeding 350 billion yuan, and the province is now striving to build an aluminum-based material industry cluster with global competitiveness.

Ren Weijun, a second-level inspector at the Henan Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, pointed out that the nonferrous metals industry is a time-honored and critically important traditional industry in Henan Province, serving as a vital force underpinning and driving the province’s economic and social development. To further boost the development of the nonferrous metals industry and elevate it to a higher level overall, the Henan Provincial Government Office recently issued the “Henan Province Nonferrous Metals Industry Quality Improvement and Upgrading Action Plan.” This plan outlines 20 specific support measures across six key areas: industrial strengths, industrial structure, innovation-driven development, transformation and upgrading, resource security and supply, and industrial ecosystem. The plan is dedicated to building Henan into a strong province with a competitive modern aluminum industry, a major hub for lead and zinc industries, and a leading province in the copper industry. It is foreseeable that as these measures are gradually implemented, Henan’s nonferrous metals industry will seize a new round of opportunities for quality enhancement, efficiency improvement, and structural optimization, injecting strong momentum into the construction of a modern industrial system and the realization of high-quality economic development. The nonferrous metals sector—especially the aluminum industry—in Henan boasts a bright future and tremendous potential for growth.

The reporter from Dahé Cai Li Fang learned that this exhibition will continue until October 17. During the event, numerous experts will engage in lively exchanges and discussions on topics including trends in the aluminum industry, new products, new technologies, new processes, new equipment, and expanding the applications of aluminum. Meanwhile, throughout the exhibition, a series of related activities will also be held, including the award ceremony for Henan Province’s leading figures in technological innovation within the advanced aluminum-based materials industrial chain, the Henan Province Science and Technology Progress Award for the Nonferrous Metals Industry, and the Patent Award.
